Schedule 2 Of The Indian Constitution
The Indian Constitution's Schedule 2 contains provisions pertaining to the allowances, privileges, and emoluments of the President, Governors of States, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Council of States, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council of a State, Judges of the Supreme Court and the High Courts, and others.
The list of constitutional jobs whose provisions are listed in Schedule 2 must be kept in mind by UPSC hopefuls.
Basic Premises
The entirety of Schedule 2 is broken up into various "Parts" that each contain provisions relating to remuneration, benefits, and privileges.
As follows:
Part A: The President and the Governors of the States Provisions (Articles 59(3), 65(3), and 158(3))
Articles 97 and 186 of Part C deal with the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Council of States, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council of a State.
Part D: Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts Provisions (Articles 125, 221)
Provisions regarding the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India are found in Part E (Article 148(3)).
Part B: The Seventh Constitutional Amendment of 1956 deleted the provisions regarding the Ministers for the Union and the States in Parts A and B of the First Schedule (Articles - 75(6) and 164(5)).
Conclusion
To provide a thorough account of the allowances, privileges, and remuneration of the numerous constitutional posts that cannot be described in the relevant provisions of the constitution due to their extensive and detailed character, Schedule 2 was added to the Indian Constitution.
